“We can learn something new anytime we believe we can.” ~ Virginia Satir
Growth. Change. Two small words that can have a huge impact on our lives, if only we choose to harness their opportunities. I think Glenda from the Wizard of Oz said it best when she said, “you’ve always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself.” Helping my clients learn to connect with their inner power to be able to walk bravely through life is my goal. Embracing our inner power helps us to move the growth and change in our lives in the direction in which we choose to go.
My background includes working with individuals, couples, and families. I have experience working with family and partner relational problems, pre-martial counseling, severe mental illness, addiction, intensive outpatient, and self-esteem exploration. Prior to working at Cogito, I worked as a clinician at a residential treatment facility for adults with chemical dependency and dual diagnosis and as a clinical therapist on an adult psychiatric unit.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University as a double major in Psychology and Family and Child Sciences. I have my Master of Science degree from The University of Southern Mississippi in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I look forward to working with my clients to help them achieve a solid sense of self and to learn to have more authentic and meaningful relationships to enhance their quality of life.
