My personal view of the nature of people is that we are intrinsically good. I believe that essentially, everyone has a goal of peace of mind, or satisfaction. Our perceived ends and means for achieving this satisfaction are as varied as there are individuals. The focuses on what are the elements of success, or how to get there, among people range from career, wealth, power, and prestige, to family, health, spiritual or religious values, altruism, love, and service.

I believe there are several facets to wellness, including mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional. I also believe that it all starts with our thinking as the old saying goes something like, As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is. So mental health is the key. However, this and all the other areas of wellness and prevention practices are linked together and often overlap. Our spiritual practices and beliefs affect our mental health in terms of the degree of our loving vs. fearful nature. When we are mentally healthy, we tend to be more physically active and therefore more physically healthy. All these activities lend themselves to emotional health, and determine to a large extent whether our emotions lean to more of love-based or fear-based.

My most recent work has been as a Substance Abuse Counselor/Therapist in southeast Alabama. My responsibilities included providing SA treatment services to outpatient clients (formerly to residential clients) employing various clinical and social treatment skills and approaches. I provided therapeutic services to the clients in my case load (up to 15 clients in each of one Intensive Outpatient and one Outpatient group, formerly up to 10 residential clients).

I am an Associate Licensed Counselor, and a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC). I have an M.S. in Counseling and Psychology, and a B.S. Magna Cum Laude in Computer and Information Technology. My previous career was that of a Computer Programmer/Analyst/Developer with 22+ years diverse experience in information technology jobs while living in southeast Florida.
