I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Supervising Counselor. After working with children, adolescents, parents, adults and families for over 37 years, I believe I have the experience to help clients discover lasting solutions and make adjustments that will lead to a happier, healthier life. Your treatment plan and the direction of our sessions will be tailored to meet your individual needs.
In 1990 I received a Master’s Degree in Counseling and then in 2002 I received an ED.S Degree in Counseling from Troy University. My working experience includes working as a middle school teacher and guidance counselor for 31 years and working as a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 22 years in several different settings.
In 1999 I became certified and began teaching Parent Project Parenting classes. My professional experience includes serving as a Conflict Resolution Trainer of Trainers, Developing Capable People Parenting Training, and a member of the School Crisis Counseling Team.
Two professional awards I am most proud of are being selected by the Alabama Counseling Association as the 1996 Alabama Middle School Counselor of the Year and my selection as District 2 Teacher of the Year by the Alabama State Department of Education.
My approach to counseling tends to be cognitive and based in reality therapy. I believe most everyone is capable of change and can learn new thought and behavior patterns. I emphasize choice and responsibility using empathy, principles of positive regard and a warm and caring relationship. My goal is to help you develop a happier, healthier life.
